Parting Gifts of Empire: Palestine and India at the Dawn of Decolonization: Book Launch & Discussion

We are backkkkkkk, and this time we are refocusing on bringing an internationalist lens to the work we do with the incredible @esmatelhalaby and @afrasianimaginaries ! 🎁 Parting Gifts of Empire: Palestine and India at the Dawn of Decolonization: Book Launch & Discussion 📅 Wednesday, December 3rd, 2025 🕡 12 PM EDT - 2 PM EDT 🎟️ linked in our bio, website or you can look up Workshops4Sudan on Chuffed! We’re excited to present our next #Workshop4Sudan: a book discussion with Esmat Elhalaby, moderated by Neelofer Qadir. Esmat’s powerful new book, Parting Gifts of Empire, looks at the parallel partitions of British Palestine and British India—intertwined moments of rupture and global imagining. He dives into the intellectual histories of decolonization through the work of thinkers from West and South Asia, asking how scholars and cultural workers built knowledge and institutions amidst incomplete decolonizations. Join us as Esmat explores moments of translation, solidarity, and liberation in the making across the Third World. As always the suggested donation is $40 - $100 per workshop. Your contributions reflect our deep appreciation for the time and expertise of our instructors, as well as the urgent, ongoing needs in Sudan. All proceeds go directly to the Sudan Solidarity Fund, supporting vital mutual aid efforts on the ground. When registering, please select the workshop you’d like to attend—each donation applies to one session. #PartingGiftsofEmpire #EsmatElhalaby #NeeloferQadir #Workshops4Sudan #BookLaunch #SouthAsianHistory #Palestine If you are a Sudanese Student, access to the workshop is free; please message us or email us to reserve your spot!
