📢 PROTEST: ALLEN PARK SAYS NO TO DATA CENTERS

📢 ALLEN PARK SAYS NO TO DATA CENTERS Community Protest & Planning Commission Meeting 📍 Allen Park City Hall 15915 Southfield Road, Allen Park, MI 🗓 Thursday, January 8 ⏰ Protest begins at 6:00 PM 🗣 Planning Commission Meeting at 7:00 PM Allen Park residents and community members are coming together to protest a proposed 45,400-square-foot data center planned for 7500 Enterprise Drive, just south of I-94. The proposal, submitted by Solstice Data, would bring an “edge” AI data center to Allen Park. While supporters claim data centers bring jobs, the reality is that these facilities are largely machine-run, employ relatively few workers, and can place a significant strain on local energy infrastructure. Across the country, communities are raising concerns about increased electricity usage, environmental impacts, and the risk of higher utility costs being passed on to residents. The proposed facility would include: • A one-story building with a two-story attachment • 56 dry coolers and 56 chillers • 12 on-site backup generators • Approximately 35 permanent jobs Despite claims that the facility will not consume water for cooling, questions remain about long-term energy demands, noise, environmental impact, and accountability. 📣 Why this matters: Once approved, projects like this are difficult to reverse. Residents deserve transparency, meaningful input, and a real say in how their community develops. 🪧 Bring a sign. Bring a friend. Make your voice heard. Stay for the Planning Commission meeting and let city officials know Allen Park residents are paying attention.
