The proposal, submitted by Solstice Data, would bring an “edge” AI data center to Allen Park. While supporters claim data centers bring jobs, the reality is that these facilities are largely machine-run, employ relatively few workers, and can place a significant strain on local energy infrastructure. Across the country, communities are raising concerns about increased electricity usage, environmental impacts, and the risk of higher utility costs being passed on to residents.
