Save Big Bend - ATX Capitol Rally - 4/4
Save Big Bend
We rally on April 4, 4:00 at the ATX Capitol and we organize until the Big Bend wall is stopped.
Big Bend National Park was established nearly 100 years ago as a promise to preserve our natural, ecological, astronomical & cultural heritage for future generations during an extremely uncertain time in the world. This promise is under threat as new plans for a physical border wall, razor wire, bright lights, and other military development loom over nearly the entirety of Big Bend National Park, Big Bend Big Bend Ranch State Park, and countless landowners’ properties who rely on the Rio for their livelihood and freedom. This move would take our land away from future generations forever.
The government is waiving dozens of legal protections to construct a physical border wall and border zone through Big Bend, an area with such vast physical boundaries that locals agree no wall is needed at all. Construction would require development far beyond what the current roads and infrastructure can support, taking away the darkest skies in the lower 48 and desecrating a place treasured worldwide as one of our most scenic parks. Wall construction would devastate our ecosystems, economy, and heritage while straining local resources and putting service members at risk for nothing more than a demolition of one of the most beautiful places in America.
There are numerous things we can discuss with regard to border policy - we have a broad bipartisan coalition who agree that a physical border wall inside of our national parks is a non-starter. Not a single inch.
Join us to protect Big Bend and preserve it for future generations. We rally at the Austin Capitol 4/4. We need local organizing and need nationwide protests ASAP, google form on socials. This is bigger than West Texas now. See y’all outside.
Note - this is a grassroots campaign, not a non-taxable 501c, not affiliated with any national park or NPS related organizations or non-profits. We’re going to save our park together. Follow @savebigbend to join the cause.
