A Nationwide Gathering for a National Vigil and Protest DHS, ICE & CBP
Genesee Valley Indivisible
Organized by Rev. Leah Ntula [email protected]
WHO: Community members; the public is encouraged to attend.
WHAT: A community vigil and protest. A Nationwide Gathering for a National Vigil and Protest
On Sunday, February 15, members of local communities across the United States will gather simultaneously for a national vigil and peaceful protest against the violence of ICE, Customs and Border Protection, and other federal agencies. The event aims to honor those who have lost their lives, and to resist the normalization of this behavior as the “new normal."
The demonstration will include a candlelight vigil, the reading of a list of names, and a protest. Those in attendance are encouraged to lie down—or remain still in their chair, walker, or while standing—and remain motionless for 36 minutes, one minute for each name. [Sadly, there are now more than 36 names.]
WHY: To remember those who have lost their lives and those who mourn them, and to unite in an act of resistance and courage against the normalization of the actions—or inactions—of these agencies and the federal government.
