Gay Cuba Film Screening and Discussion

Lucy Parsons Center

Join us for a fundraising film screening of Gay Cuba (1996) dir. Sonja De Vries Feb. 27th 7:30-9:30PM. The film is a set of interviews with many different LGBTQ people in Cuba describing their struggles and wins in the process of transforming Cuban society to challenge homophobia and transphobia. We will also discuss some of trans activist Leslie Feinberg’s writings from “Rainbow Solidarity in Defense of Cuba” about Cuba’s successes around care for people with HIV and their own review of Gay Cuba. Donations will go towards supporting this year’s May Day Brigade which brings important medical supplies and other forms of material aid to Cuba. If you want to learn more about the May Day Bridge and other ways of supporting an end to the embargo check out @nationalnetworkoncuba
