A historic event will take place on Sunday November 16th, when the Palestinian flag is raised at Brampton City Hall. This flag raising could only happen after years of continued pressure of our organizing against the Canadian government. While we recognize the symbolic significance of this event, it’s important to remember the continued arming of the zionist entity by the Canadian government. The Palestinian flag has been a symbol of our struggle and identity for more than 76 years. It is important we show up to support and commemorate the historical and ongoing struggle for the liberation of Palestine. It sends a clear message to Palestinians in Brampton, the GTA, Canada, and around the world that their right to self-determination and to a free Palestinian state is one that we will advocate for in all forums. Brampton joins the cities of Mississauga and Toronto in this historic event, both hoisting the Palestinian flag (Missauga will be 2pm Sunday and Toronto is 9am on Monday 17th).
