Writers Against the War On Gaza (WAWOG)
SCHOOL IS IN SESSION
SCHOOL IS IN SESSION: WAWOG’s fifth New York community town hall and fundraiser for Gaza will be held 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟳 from 𝟭–𝟳𝗣𝗠 at the 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗯𝘆𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗹𝘆𝗻 (124 Henry St, Brooklyn), organized in collaboration with 𝗣𝗔𝗟-𝗔𝘄𝗱𝗮 𝗡𝗬/𝗡𝗝, 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽, and 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗬𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲.
🇵🇸We will gather for a full day of open-forum conversations and political education, including readings from the Disorientation Edition of The New York War Crimes, produced in collaboration with @thewrittenresistance. The new issue asks: How can we best be of use to the movement for Palestinian liberation from our various positions in, around, and against the university? How can we struggle with the masses amid new regimes of surveillance and racialized class warfare? How can we fight back and win?
❌From the classroom to the boardroom, those who claim to steward higher education lock universities into partnerships with arms dealers, policing contracts, and surveillance tech firms. The same billionaire trustees who burden students with debt also profit from incarceration, militarization, and war. By exposing how our opponents bind these topics to one another, we can take collective action that builds real power.
🎟️𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗮 𝗯𝗶𝘁.𝗹𝘆/𝘀𝗲𝗽-𝟮𝟳. Donations will be accepted at the door. Proceeds will benefit 𝗘𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝗹𝗻𝗮 𝗘𝗹𝗮𝗸, an organization founded by 𝗕𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗻 𝗢𝘄𝗱𝗮 that provides clean water, and fresh food, and hope to displaced children in Gaza, and martyred journalist 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗺 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘁’s charity supporting families in the north of Gaza.
😷Face masks will be distributed at the door. The space is wheelchair accessible.
