Brooklyn, NY: Governor Hochul, Support Clean Air & Lower Bills!
Join us in calling on Governor Hochul to support lower energy bills, good jobs, clean air, and a liveable climate!
We'll be urging Hochul to sign legislation repealing the 100-foot rule and to reverse her decision to delay implementation of the All-Electric Building Act.
We'll be rallying with Assemblymember Jo Anne Simon at 505 State Street, New York's first all-electric skyscraper!
The 100-foot rule is an outdated subsidy for the gas industry that cost ratepayers $600 million in 2021. Legislation eliminating the subsidy was passed by the Legislature, and now Hochul must sign it into law.
In 2023, Hochul signed the All-Electric Building Act, which phases out gas hookups in new buildings, making our homes cleaner, healthier, and more affordable to power. The Hochul administration announced that it is pausing implementation of the law, an overreach of her authority with dangerous consequences.
