BLIS COLLECTIVE RECLAMATION DAY A REUNION OF HOPE
BLIS Collective
On June 20, we invite you to join us for our first major public gathering, Reclamation Day: A Reunion of Hope.
The day will unfold as part reunion and part immersive community exhibition, bringing strangers together as kin, as a counter-narrative intervention ahead of the 250th anniversary of the US.
Guided by a narrative arc of Reclaim. Repair. Reimagine. We will tell the truth about the nation’s first 250 years — how colonization, slavery, and capitalism have shaped our present, honor what Black, Indigenous, and working-class people have protected, reclaimed, and carried forward despite it, and rehearse the story we want to write for the next 250 years.
There will be rituals, performances, artwork, and participatory experiences, music, food, games, moments of rest, and opportunities to be with one another, and join the movements for reparations, Land Back, and economic transformation.
If you’re reading this, you belong here.
We’ll see you at the reunion.
