Indivisible
ICE Out
This is a local Indivisible event!
Following the success with the Tesla project it’s time to turn our energy toward a new challenge. ICE has announced plans to do online surveillance out of 2 national facilities, one of which is in Williston! This is another step toward a police state.
Starting on Saturday, November 1, Burlington Rising will hold weekly, 2 hour protests at the intersection of 189 & Shelburne Rd. to demand the shutdown of ICE operations in VT. Stand with your fellow Vermonters to defend our values: a place where all people feel safe, welcomed and free.
We will gather on the sidewalk, in front of the Market 32/Price Chopper shopping center, at 555 Shelburne Rd. We chose this location to maximize community visibility to this critical issue.
Come when you can, leave when you need to. Bring your signs and your energy. This peaceful demonstration falls under our First Amendment rights to public assembly and freedom of speech.
Parking is limited in the area. Consider meeting friends and carpooling. Please use spots at the outer edges of lots in the shopping centers.
A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
