No War with Iran
Indivisible
The president has decided to take the United States to war against Iran, despite the fact that there was no imminent threat to American interests. Congress did not approve this war. The people of the United States do not approve of this war. Yet people are dying. Civilians in numerous countries across the region are losing their lives, and of course, now American service members are, as well. And for what? The administration has not even offered a coherent reason as to why they are willing to sacrifice the blood of our American sons and daughters.
Most of those who voted for this president did so in part because he promised "no new wars.” The president's authoritarian instincts and use of violence as a policy of first resort--both at home and abroad--is something that most Americans find abhorrent, regardless of their political affiliation.
On Saturday, March 7, we have an opportunity to bring the community together, an opportunity to let our neighbors know that they are not alone in recognizing that this administration has strayed from the American ideal of a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
This is a peaceful protest, and Coastal Democracy is both nonpartisan and committed to nonviolence, even in our speech. We encourage participants to bring American flags, but please do not invert them, as this alienates some of those who would otherwise be our allies. Our goal is to unite the entire community around our mutual desire for peace and rejection of authoritarianism. Join us.
This a local Indivisible event!
A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
