BOOK LAUNCH REFAAT ALAREER: IF I MUST DIE MONDAY 6th OCTOBER, 6:30pm Cork City Library, Grand Parade, We are honoured to welcome Yousef M. Aljamal to Cork on Monday the 6th of October, when he will be launching his collection of the poetry and prose of Refaat Alareer. Refaat Alareer was a writer, poet, professor and activist who taught at the Islamic University of Gaza and co-founded the organisation ‘We are not Numbers’ which mentors young writers in Gaza, using the power of storytelling as a means of resistance against the occupation. On the 6th of December 2023 he was murdered, along with his brother, sister and four nephews, in a targetted Israeli airstrike on the apartment in which they were staying. Yousef M. Aljamal, the editor of this collection, was a close friend of Refaat Alareer and is his literary executor. Please join us at 6:30 p.m. in the Cork City Library, Grand Parade, for the launch of ‘Refaat Alareer,  If I Must Die: Poetry and Prose.’ Copies of the book will be available for purchase on the night.
