Our TN farmers are being killed by tariffs on China, as China is the largest importer of soy, the main crop for TN exports. China is buying from other countries. There is nowhere else to sell soy that makes up for the loss of China's imports of soy in the past.for TN farmers. We will focus on drawing attention to the problem for our farmers along with drawing attention to the growing issue of food insecurity. The loss of SNAP funds as dictated by Gov. Lee, created by the Big Bad Bill of cuts, along with federal workers with no jobs and/or paychecks, and the general rise in the cost of food, is causing the perfect storm of food insecurity for a large swath of Tennesseans. OUR TWO MAIN GOALS: Food insecurity MUST not be a problem in the United States, DON'T ENDANGER OUR FARM COMMUNITY! WE MUST BE DISCIPLINED-- DO NOT BRING UP NO KINGS, BILLIONAIRES DON'T NEED TAX CUTS,, MAGA MUST GO, OR SAY NO TO FACISM. If we can stay on the two messages above, we can bring new people into the fold to counter the deeper threats we know exist to our constitutional republic. Get your church on board to support these messages---see your clergy leadership. If you work in a food pantry or soup kitchen, let them know/get them to show up to publicize their needs, and take some of the donations.(Reach out to me for help in messaging if you need to}. We need farmers on board. If you know farmers, or are willing to find farmers interested in showing support for this initiative, let me know. We will discuss appropriate messaging. If we can get some of these different people to speak to our protesters, that would be fantastic. If you want to approach supermarkets to ask for discounts or free turkeys/food items for pantries, let me know If you want to bring our message about our protest rally to the media, let me know. WE WILL BE COLLECTING NON PERISHABLE FOOD FOR LOCAL FOODBANKS A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action.
