Durham May Day 2026: Workers Over Billionaires
May Day Strong
Join a coalition of workers, unions and grassroots organizations across NC, the country, and the globe to shut down business as usual to fight back against the billionaire takeover. We will meet at "The Bull" (CCB Plaza: 211 W. Parrish Street) at 5-6:30pm for a rally and march.
We demand a country that puts our families over their fortunes--public schools over private profits, workers over bosses and billionaires, migrant safety over deportations, healthcare over hedge funds, housing over homelessness, and thriving communities over war. Join the call for no work, no school, no shopping!
May Day is International Workers Day. Across the state—from the fruit fields in Goldsboro to classrooms in Durham, from cafeterias at Duke University to childcare centers in Raleigh— working people are organizing. Cuts to Medicaid, inadequate wages, attacks on our basic democratic rights, lack of public funding, ICE terror in our communities, endless wars abroad and a growing divide between the billionaires and the workers, means that this May Day we have to take a stand.
Because when the billionaires break every rule, it’s going to take more than a rally to stop them.
Our Demands for May 1st
- Raise wages! Make housing, healthcare and food affordable again!
- Abolish ICE! Money for human needs, not War!
- Tax the rich so our families, not billionaires’ fortunes, come first.
- Put Kids First - Fully Fund Public Education
- Expand democracy, not corporate power. Protect Workers Rights. Defend free and fair elections.
Together we will be flexing our collective muscle in a tremendous day of power - showing our unity through a day of No Work No School No Shopping.
Join as as together we celebrate May 1st through action and community.
