STOLEN STEPS ⬜️ 🕊️🩰 A path of tiny shoes, scuffed and waiting— their young owners gone to a place the wind cannot follow. Where there was once fun and play, silence now hums the lullaby their mothers could never finish. Each shoe holds a story— the sound of laughter still folded in the tongue of a sneaker. Now from every hollow sole, a white bird rises— soft as a whisper, fierce as a prayer. Lifting from the ruins like a breath from the earth, carrying the echo of small footsteps that will never grow heavier with age. Upward they go, past the smoke, past the unending ache of ground and grief— toward a sky that must make room for too many wings. And below, the shoes remain, paired and unpaired, testament and tombstone, waiting for the steps that were stolen, and will never return. ——— In remembrance of: · More than 17,000 children that have been killed in Gaza since 2023. · At least 39,000 children that have lost one or more of their parents. · More than 1,000 children have had one or both legs amputated. · 1,554,700 children are in need of humanitarian assistance. · Only 1 in 10 children currently able to access safe drinking water. · 658,760 school-aged children in Gaza have been without formal education.
