ICE Out For Good Encinitas
ICE Out For Good Encinitas is Sat, Jan 10, from 3-4pm at the 4-corners of Encinitas Blvd and El Camino Real. Cosponsored by Indivisible49, DEMCCO, ENCDC, and PPJ.
This is a peaceful protest and vigil. We will hold a moment of silence at 3:30pm. Wear black. Bring a sign or flag, and water to stay hydrated.
Carpooling recommended. Park on a residential street. If you park in a shopping center, avoid being ticketed or towed by purchasing something from a store and leaving the receipt in your car window.
On Wed Jan 7 an American citizen was killed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This killing is part of a broader pattern of unchecked violence, impunity, and abuse carried out by federal immigration enforcement agencies against members of our communities.
A broad coalition of groups across the country have called for a coordinated Ice Out For Good Weekend of Action on Sat, Jan 10 and Sun, Jan 11 to demand accountability, honor the lives lost, and make visible the human cost of ICE’s actions.
A core principle behind all ICE Out For Good events is a commitment to nonviolent action and no civil disobedience. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values, and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events. All events should be held in public spaces or on public property.
