Labor Day in Florence--Workers Over Billionaires

This a local Indivisible event! This Labor Day, stand in solidarity with union members and neighbors in Florence. Time to speak up for our workers and demand better for them. Join us on Saturday, August 30, 1-2 pm, in solidarity with workers and the unions that protect their safe working conditions and human rights. Please also plan to join us on Friday, August 15, when we host a Labor Day sign making workshop, from 1-2 pm at Florence Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. All poster board and art supplies provided. When you sign up for our rally, use the email link to let us know you will also be attending the August 15 sign making workshop. Or contact us at [email protected] On Labor Day weekend we recognize the extraordinary value of the workers in our community. Workers are the backbone of our economy and yet they keep being targeted for cuts in services and programs that backstop the uncertainties and stresses in their lives and make it harder to make ends meet. For decades, the scales in America have been tipped heavily in favor of job creators over workers. This has led to the greatest imbalance of wealth in our nation’s history. Billionaires get more while workers are expected to live on less. Yet Congress just passed a spending bill that increased the income gap significantly, and workers’ again are expected to somehow makeup the difference. We know that working folks in Florence—and everywhere—deserve better than this. Let’s stand united and in solidarity with their cause on Labor Day in Florence, August 30. A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
