Lee County School Board Meeting & Rally to Protect Teacher's 1st Amendment Rights

Please, make your voice heard at the School Board Meeting. The meeting starts at 6pm. We are rallying outside at 5pm. PG-13 signs welcome. Peaceful, lawful, effective. To speak, fill out a comment card at the entrance before meeting starts. In Lee County, FL, educators have faced increasing scrutiny and even disciplinary action based on the opinions they share in their private capacities. This not only undermines their freedoms but also creates an environment of fear and censorship that can stifle genuine discourse. Educators must be empowered to express their views without the looming threat of professional retaliation. They should not be penalized for what they say or believe outside of school, as long as it does not incite violence or disrupt school operations. Political violence should always be condemned. Still, all Americans have the right to free speech. When we silence people for expressing their views outside of work, on their own time, and on their personal pages, we chip away at something fundamental — our First Amendment. Censorship erodes the very freedoms that allow us to have open dialogue and learn from one another, even when we disagree. Our teachers are not only educators; they are neighbors, parents, and citizens. They deserve the same Constitutional protections as every American. Free speech is not about liking every opinion, it’s about protecting the right to have one. If we deny our educators that right, we set an example for our students that their voices don’t matter either. We rally to protect educators’ rights to speak freely outside the classroom, off school premises, during non-school hours, on their personal pages. When we defend their voices, we defend the very principles that make our democracy strong. 🔸️🔸️Please, sign the petition to protect their First Amendment right to free speech. https://c.org/pyFYDbrhpj 🔸️🔸️Send a pre-filled email to the Lee County School Board and Superintendent. https://tinyurl.com/2jpetw49 https://www.winknews.com/news/lee/lee-county-schools-investigating-teachers-posts-on-charlie-kirks-death/article_a6034022-cdd2-4f7b-9992-15c179e9def4.html https://www.winknews.com/news/national/teachers-under-review-for-charlie-kirk-social-media-posts/article_67aceed4-2617-4f44-bd76-1b2821affb07.html A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
