Rally for the Climate Superfund Act

Let's show up for the Climate Superfund Act in South Jersey! The bill (S3545/A4696) would have the largest fossil fuel corporations pay their fair share to support climate adaptation projects and compensate taxpayers for rising costs like utility and insurance bills due to climate change, all without raising consumer costs.* The Climate Superfund Act is on the verge of passing with 19/40 Senate sponsors, 43/80 Assembly sponsors, and 50+ municipalities passing supporting resolutions in support. In Legislative District 3 (LD3 - Cumberland, Gloucester, Camden Counties), municipalities including Woolwich, Swedesboro and National Park, have passed supporting resolutions, and the mayors of Logan Township and Wenonah have also signed onto a letter of support. However, none of the state representatives in LD3 have co-sponsored the bill yet, despite this momentum and numerous calls and emails to their office. LD3 Senator Burzichelli holds a key vote in the Senate Budget committee meeting where the bill will be brought up for a committee vote on January 8th. Burzichelli has not yet indicated affirmative support on the bill. 6 out of 12 members on the Senate Budget Committee, all co-sponsors, have indicated a vote in favor, meaning Burzichelli holds a crucial role. To show our support for the bill, join us at our LD3 legislators' office in Glassboro, the day before the committee vote! *See this page for a list of more FAQs on the bill: https://sites.google.com/view/sunrise-woolwich/take-action/nj-climate-superfund-act#h.rw24uye0pgwu
