The People’s Day Protest

Indivisible Upstate SC

On Presidents’ Day, we will protest then gather for a rally in the park to remind our community that We the People are the government. Our leaders are public servants, elected to protect us, represent us, and act in our best interests. This day is not about glorifying power, it is about remembering where power belongs, with the people. Across South Carolina, legislators are advancing policies that serve political ambition rather than the people. This protest is a call to expose that betrayal and remind those in office that their loyalty must be to the public, not authoritarian agendas. Right now, controversial legislation moving through hearings includes near total abortion restrictions, efforts to close open primaries and limit voter choice, attacks on transgender students’ rights, mandates expanding ICE cooperation by local law enforcement, and changes to judicial selection that threaten court independence. The People’s Day Protest is about dissent, accountability, and action. We refuse to be silent while democracy is weakened. We stand together to say clearly, we will not surrender our rights or our power. This is our moment to rise, to contact our representatives, to get involved, and to make our voices impossible to ignore. On Presidents’ Day, we choose the people. We choose freedom. We choose to dissent.
