It has never been more important to talk about Palestine. Over the past two years the world has watched Israel carry out a horrific genocide in the Gaza strip, killing men, women and children at rate that has not been seen this century. All of it possible with the tens of billions of dollars of US weapons and support.
Palestinians have referred to the past two years in Gaza as a second Nakba, or catastrophe. It is a second Nakba because this genocide didnt start two years ago. It started with the Nakba of 1948 when 750,000 Palestinians were forcibly displaced from their homes by Israel and never allowed the right of return to this day.
250,000 of those Palestinian refugees settled in Gaza. They and their descendants have now been displaced yet again by Israel, with Israel having destroyed the vast majority of Gazans' homes. This winter, hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of Palestinias will be facing the cold and the rain in tents.
Come out next Sunday and learn about Palestine and their history of resistance against Israel's immoral and illegal occupation. Palestinians have always resisted their oppression. Returning to their homeland is not just a human right that has been affirmed by multipe UN resolutions, it is that promise of return which keeps hope alive in such diffuclt times for Palestinians.
