Study Group: What Would MLK Do?

✨ NEW EVENT: What Would MLK Do? The Fight for A General Strike! Over 55 years after MLK’s assassination, we are still fighting the same battles: Instead of Vietnam, the US is committing genocide in Gaza and bombing Venezuela. Instead of racist police enforcing Jim Crow, the Trump administration is using ICE to racially profile and illegally detain people of color. And not surprisingly, for many working class people the rent is still too high, wages too low and basic needs such as medical care unaccessable. In light of these troubling times, we ask the question: What would MLK be doing? We think the answer is clear: Before his assassination, MLK was organizing what could have been the biggest general strike in US history, the Poor People’s Campaign. Join us as we explore how MLK’s legacy can inform our organizing work in the present day, and how we can use lessons learned to defeat the rising tide of fascism. 🗓️ Sun, Jan 18 🕛 2pm 📍CLASS Bookstore (3803 Sampson St. C)
