The Town of Jackson is utilizing approximately 30 FLOCK license plate recognition cameras presumably to assist in fighting crime. However it would be more accurate to say that Jackson is participating in a nationwide surveillance apparatus (over 5000 cities in 42 states) that can be used to target citizens for any activity the government agencies with access to the FLOCK data find “undesirable”. FLOCK license plate recognition cameras and systems are being used to conduct surveillance on protestors and other individuals around the nation. ICE and DHS have recently indicated that they intend to use these and other surveillance systems to track individuals and groups who protest or oppose the current regime in violation of the 1st and 4th Amendment. FLOCK data is widely shared nationwide and can be accessed by agencies and government entities well beyond the jurisdictions that wittingly or unwittingly installed them without those jurisdictions knowledge. We will be attending the Jackson Town Council Meeting on December 15, 2025 at 6:00pm at the Jackson Town Hall to protest the use of this surveillance system and demand its removal. We will be providing attendees with form letters to fill out and submitting FOIA and and public records requests for all FLOCK data collected and shared by the Town Of Jackson to date. This is effective because there is just simply so much data (each camera runs 24/7/365) it is impossible for them to be able to comply with the requests and continue their use. This is some genuine “big brother” 1984, “means so subtle we will not even be aware of them as controls” Brave New World, “under his eye” Handmaids Tale bullshit. A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
