Block the Bombs
🚨 Seven more lawmakers have co-sponsored the Block the Bombs Act this month, but not @repcleaver. He claims he hasn’t even read it. Cleaver is delaying while Gaza is dying.
On Labor Day, organizers with Jewish Voice for Peace Kansas City spoke with U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver and asked him if he will co-sponsor the Block the Bombs Act, which would block some of the worst weapons the US is supplying to Israel in its genocide of Palestinians. This was the fourth time we’ve spoken with him or his office about the bill since it was introduced in June.
His answer? He didn’t even know it had been introduced. On Sept. 6, Cleaver again told activists that he had not read the bill.
This 3-page piece of legislation has 46 co-sponsors as of Sept. 15, most recently Reps. Maxine Waters, Zoe Lofgren, Madeleine Dean and Mary Gay Scanlon.

And join JVP KC on the second day of Rosh Hashanah, Sept. 24, in gathering across from Cleaver’s Kansas City office to Call out for Justice and call on the congressman to support this critical legislation. Jews and allies will participate in a Tashlich ritual-action, marking this sacred time with the High Holiday ritual of symbolically "casting off" the past year's sins and recommitting to the work of tikkun olam, repairing the world, which we believe means working harder for an end to the genocide of Gaza and towards freedom for the Palestinian people.

As Israel escalates its genocidal violence by killing and starving Palestinians, and by driving them from their homes, it’s time to Block the Bombs!
