ANTI-ZIONIST YIDDISH SONG WORKSHOP
Jewish Voice for Peace KC
JVP KC and Doykayt KC are excited to co-present a workshop exploring little-known anti-Zionist songs from early 20th century Eastern Europe. These songs, mostly associated with the Jewish Labor Bund movement, are just as anti-fascist, pro-solidarity, and relevant today as they were in 1905! At the end of the workshop, everyone will get a zine booklet with the songs to take home! Joining us to teach this workshop is Chaia, a Yiddishist and DJ from New York who samples archival Yiddish music from the radical movements of the early 20th century.
Following the workshop, we’ll head over to XO Hifi together to see Chaia play a free show for the community (7-9pm)! There will be cocktails, music, and an interactive Yiddish paper cutting activity!
Here’s the details:
5:30-6:30PM - Workshop at Our Spot | 2810 E 18th St. - Tickets $15 at door
7-9PM - See Chaia Perform at XO Hifi | 709 W 17th St - Free
