State of Labour

Jamaica LANDS

Join LANDS on Saturday, May 2nd, 2025, at 6 p.m at UWI Seminar Room SR10, Mona School of Business, for the first State of Labour Dialogues for 2026. Who keeps society running? Essential Work in everyday life and in crisis aims to understand how disasters and emergencies impact essential workers and their conditions. Post-Hurricane Melissa, we have seen nurses working in hospitals with damaged roofs, formerly critical hotel workers laid off, firefighters making life-saving rescues, with no homes to return to, and teachers fighting for classroom space in disaster shelters. Who cares for the essential worker before, during, and after the storm? All workers are welcome! Join us as we work to build more working-class solidarity.
