Trans Rights Die-In

Dear friends, comrades, and anyone who refuses to stand by, We are living through a moment that will define who we are as a state, as a people, and as human beings. Gender-affirming care for minors has ended at Corewell, U of M, Trinity, and every other major provider in Michigan. There is no longer a single healthcare provider in the state that is providing these services. This means thousands of trans kids have been cut off from the care that keeps them alive. We know what happens when youth are denied this care: suicide rates skyrocket, families are shattered, and entire communities grieve children who should still be here. And it will not stop here. In Texas, it is now effectively illegal to be trans.* That is the future staring us in the face - unless we stop it. This is not politics as usual. This is a choice between life and death. That is why we are staging a mass Die-In at the Michigan Capitol in Lansing on Thursday, September 25, from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM - during both House and Senate sessions - to force lawmakers, lobbyists, and every single aide or passerby to confront the truth: if we do nothing, our kids die. We are calling on you - yes, you - to do three things: Show up. Take off work. Cancel plans. Stand with us - or rather, lie down with us - and refuse to look away. Spread the word. Share this event. Invite personally. Send this to your pastor, your neighbor, your book club, your cousin you only talk to at Christmas. If you’ve ever said you care about trans people, now is the time to prove it. This is the moment. There may not be another one. History is watching. Please help us protect these children. If we stay silent, we are complicit. If we rise together, we can make this impossible to ignore. Date: Thursday, September 25 Time: 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM Location: Michigan State Capitol, Lansing (we will meet out front and start inside the Rotunda and then move outside when we are asked to leave - for those who wish to stay, that's wonderful, but please acknowledge the risk of arrest or citation). Please. Don’t just read this and move on. Forward it. Share it. Show up. Bring everyone you know. Our kids’ lives depend on it. In fierce solidarity - FDT Indy Next Gen *We respect a diversity of tactics. We will not be advocating for or encouraging or participating in any kind of violence, but we will not speak ill of our fellow protestors. We, as Indy Next Gen, abide by the St Paul Principles and lovingly encourage others to do so as well. *House Bill 3817 (2025) – “Gender Identity Fraud”, Senate Bill 8 (2025) – “Texas Women’s Privacy Act” / Bathroom Bill, House Bill 229 (“Women’s Bill of Rights”) (2025), Senate Bill 14 (2023) A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
