Film Screening | Salt of the Earth

Party for Socialism and Liberation - Las Cruces

Join us on March 5th for a screening and discussion of Salt of the Earth. This is a powerful, pro-labor, feminist film showcasing real New Mexico history. Filmed in Grant County and based on the 1951 Empire Zinc miners’ strike, this story follows Mexican American miners and their families as they organize against unsafe conditions and racist wage disparities. When the company tries to crush the strike, the women step forward by taking over the picket line and transforming the struggle into a fight for dignity at work, equality at home, and collective power in the community. As New Mexicans, this is our labor history, our land, our people, and a reminder that working-class New Mexicans have always organized and resisted state violence and economic exploitation.
