Online Safety and AI Regulation Discussion

👏STOP👏FUCKING👏USING👏AI👏 Horrendous. I added pic 1 BECAUSE IT'S TRUE. CREDIT 2-5 @theguiltyfeminist "For @theobserveruk I wrote about what needs to be done to prevent future harms to young people at the hands of profiteering tech corporations and unsafe Al. When I first read about. Adam Raine's death and how ChatGPT had sent him down a rabbit hole of despair, I couldn't stop seeing the parallels between his and my sister's death. The lack of safeguards built into generative Al, combined with rapidly evolving technologies designed solely for profit, make for a toxic concoction. Research from Binternetmattersorg reveals that in the UK, 71% of vulnerable children are using Al chatbots, and 6 in 10 parents say they worry their children believe Al chatbots are real people. I'm a signatory of a new, youth-led coalition called For Us with flippgen, which is campaigning for the government to raise the age limit for the use of Al "companions" to 16. Ofcom needs to ensure that companies that create chatbots are subject to the fullest scrutiny and accountability under the Online Safety Act." @adele_walton As part of our Road to Gilead series, we're back at the Museum of Comedy for another live show joined by the incredible @adele_walton online safety campaigner and author of Logging Off Together, we'll be digging into how social media fuels and expands harmful narratives, and what needs to change. A vital conversation, make sure you're in the room. Tickets are on sale now, link in Bio. Join us on 10th April at the Museum of Comedy London #onlinesafety #socialmedia #socialmediaban #markzuckerberg
