International Day of Action to Boycott Reebok
This Saturday 22nd Nov 12pm: Stall and leafletting day on Market Street Manchester City centre for the International Day of Action to Boycott Reebok:
Reebok: End your Sponsorship of Apartheid Israel's Football Association!
Halfway through Israel's 2-year genocide, Reebok began sponsorship of the Israeli Football Association (IFA), during which Israel murdered 421 Palestinian footballers. The IFA incorporates 6 teams on illegal Israeli West Bank settlements on stolen Palestinian land.
Promoting the charity football match in his native Barcelona between Catalunya and Palestine this week, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said: "The world has left Palestine alone. We’ve done absolutely nothing. They’re not at fault for being born there. We’ve all allowed them [Israel] to destroy an entire people. The damage is already done and it’s irreparable."
“I can't imagine a person in this world who could defend the massacres in Gaza. Our children could be there and murdered just for being born there. I have very little faith in leaders. They do whatever it takes to stay in power."
In a letter to UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin last week, 70 sports professionals from Athletes 4 Peace, called for Europe's governing body to sever ties with the IFA.
These included French World Cup winner Paul Pogba, Dutch forward Anwar El Ghazi, Moroccan player Hakim Ziyech and Spanish winger Adama Traore.
UEFA have historically suspended states from football for violations of international law – Apartheid South Africa, post-war Germany, Yugoslavia, and recently, Russia.
Manchester United legend Eric Cantona speaking at the Together 4 Palestine event in London said:
“4 days after Russia started a war, they were suspended. We are now over 700 days into what Amnesty International has called a genocide, and yet Israel continues to play.”
After a 5-year campaign Puma cut their sponsorship of the IFA. Reebok's sponsorship of the IFA during Israel's worst war crimes against Palestinians, their footballers and the destruction of Gaza's football stadiums and sports facilities, is an endorsement of a genocidal state.
