Indivisible McHenry County is hosting a peaceful roadside protest rally on Sunday, January 11th, from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. on Route 31 at McCullom Lake Road, in McHenry, IL. We will be protesting the violence and harm perpetrated by ICE, their killing of 37-year-old US citizen Renee Good in Minnesota, and their other shootings. There is ample parking in the large empty parking lot at the northeast corner of Route 31 and McCullom Lake Road. Please do not park in front of operating businesses; let's leave those spaces open for their customers. Make sure to bring your own signs or flags or other props. This rally will go on regardless of the weather so please dress warmly. Feel free to invite your like-minded friends! On Wednesday, January 7th, an American citizen was killed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This killing is part of a broader pattern of unchecked violence, impunity, and abuse carried out by federal immigration enforcement agencies against members of our communities. A broad coalition of groups across the country is calling for this coordinated Ice Out For Good Weekend of Action to demand accountability, honor the life lost, and make visible the human cost of ICE’s actions. A core principle behind all ICE Out For Good events is a commitment to nonviolent action and no civil disobedience. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values, and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events. All events should be held in public spaces or on public property.
