**
This is going to be a twofer. We need to tell voters that November 4 is the General Election Day and we need to help our neighbors who have lost or are going to shortly lose there SNAP benefits.
First:
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court retention election is the most important election that most voters have never heard of. In fact, many voters would be surprised to hear that there is an election this year at all.
This judicial retention election has major implications for our state. The three justices that are up for a retention vote are Democratic. If any or all of them lose the vote, they would close out their term at the end of the year. Governor Shapiro can nominate an interim replacement who would serve until the next municipal election, which would be in 2027. But the Senate must confirm that nomination by a two-thirds majority. Good luck with that!
If all three justices lose the retention vote, the Court would be left with a two to two split court until 2027. WE DO NOT WANT THAT TO HAPPEN!
The court is currently considering important cases regarding issues like abortion, climate change, and gun control. A split court will likely deadlock on these issues leaving us in limbo for the next two years.
The purpose of the rally is to educate voters that there is about the election on November 4 and its importance.
SIGNS SHOULD FOCUS ON GETTING OUT TO VOTE AND VOTING YES ON THE RETENTION RACES.
Second:
We are requesting that attendees who can bring donations of cash or supermarket gift cards to help our vulnerable community members through the loss of their SNAP benefits. All cash donations will be used to purchase supermarket gift cards.
