Citizens Bank: Stop Funding ICE Prisons

Indivisible

Citizens Bank: Stop Funding ICE Prisons Join Indivisible Middlebury on Tuesday’s from 3:00 to 4:00 in coordination with community organizers across the northeast to raise awareness about Citizens Bank’s role in supporting for-profit ICE detention centers. Citizens Bank continues to maintain key financial relationships with CoreCivic and GEO Group, two notorious for-profit prison corporations that build and operate detention facilities for ICE. Through these corporations Citizens Bank has long financed decades of abuse, neglect and fraud. Many major banks have already ended their financing of private prison corporations. It’s time for Citizens Bank to follow suit! We call on Citizens Bank to live up to its stated values by publicly committing to end its financial relationships with private prisons and detention contractors as soon as legally possible. To find more information check out Boycottingcitizens.org We will gather on the public sidewalk on Rte 7 in front of Citizens Bank in Middlebury. Please do not park in the banks parking lot or stand on the banks property. This is a peaceful, non violent demonstration. A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
