Today, we sent an open letter to MSOE President Dr. Baumgartner, laying out a list of actions the university must take to protect students from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) presence on campus. This includes a commitment to remove ICE and the Department of Homeland Security from 310 E Knapp Street, the current field office for Enforcement and Removal Operations, which MSOE currently owns and leases out. Over thirty unions, organizations, elected officials, and MSOE staff co-signed this letter, showing the disconnect between the concerns on the community and the actions of the university’s administration.
