Join us to raise awareness of the federal government’s attacks on the higher education and show support for the University of Minnesota. The University of Minnesota is among two dozen universities nationwide that have been targeted by the current administration. The federal government has withheld $23.4 million in research funds from the U this year. It also sued the university to control our students’ freedom of speech and who can receive breaks on tuition. In April, the UMN faculty senate voted to support the Rutgers Mutual Defense Compact for Big Ten Universities. The compact, approved by the senates of 14 out of 18 Big Ten schools, calls for the defense of “the autonomy of university governance, the integrity of scientific research, and the protection of free speech.” Now is the time to rise up and show unity with the students, and faculty as the University of Minnesota hosts Rutgers.
