Rally with us at the historic Four Corners in Nanuet to shame Rep. Mike Lawler for his despicable choice to take away New Yorkers' food assistance. Trump and his allies shut down the federal government over refusing to guarantee protections for clean water, safe food, and basic healthcare. Rep. Lawler is allowing his constituents to go hungry so that he can give tax breaks to billionaires. He and Congressional Republicans are responsible for this shutdown and for putting the health of millions of young children, families, elders, and disabled people in jeopardy. Millions of New Yorkers did not receive their SNAP benefits this month and do not know when their benefits will be restored. Currently, more than 1 in 3 young New York children will go hungry from losing WIC (Women, Infants & Children) Assistance, and 3 million New Yorkers will go hungry from losing SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program). This cannot stand. Rep. Lawler must come to the table to pass a bipartisan funding bill that fully funds and protects food assistance for our nation’s young children and vulnerable communities.
