Song of the week - YA RAYEH SOB BLADI

The Brooklyn Nomads

This week, we learn: Ya Rayeh Sob Bladi. Artist: Ahmad Kaabour Album: Hob Release: 1982 Composer/Lyricist: Ahmad Kaabour Written during the Israeli invasion of Lebanon and the Lebanese Civil War, this song carries a message from a traveler—greetings to loved ones, memories of places, and a longing for a country out of reach. Through naming villages and landscapes, Ahmad Kaabour turns memory into resistance. As part of our ongoing workshop honoring the legacy of Ahmad Kaabour, we’ll be diving into one of his most beloved and resonant pieces. Led by Hadi Eldebek, each session explores a different song from his repertoire—learning not just the music, but the story and spirit behind it. Join us. Workshop Details: * Dates: April 7, 14, 21, 23 * Time: 7:00–8:00pm * Location: The People’s Forum, 320 W 37th St, New York Link in bio to register.
