Northfield MN Indivisible
ICE out of MN - Northfield: Day of Truth and Freedom
Minnesotans are coming together in moral reflection and action to stand together against the actions of the federal government against the state of Minnesota. The ICE surge of over 3,000 Federal agents that cost the life of Renee Nicole Good is violating the Constitutional and human rights of Americans and our neighbors. This is not law enforcement. We need to say what this is: it is a paramilitary occupation forced on Minnesotans by our Federal government because we did not vote for Donald Trump and because our leaders oppose his policies.
We are being punished because we welcome immigrants with open arms and hearts, and for that our immigrant neighbors are being made to suffer, and all Minnesotans are being made to suffer. This state-sponsored cruelty and injustice is not a side-effect of Federal immigration policies, it is in fact the point. This is not the America we choose to live in. These are not our values.
Minnesota will never bend the knee to cruelty. Northfield will never bend the knee for cruelty. Nonviolent, peaceful dissent is patriotic.
Friday, January 23rd will be a statewide day of non-violent moral action, reflection: no work, no school, no shopping — only community, conscience, and collective action.
We will rally in Bridge Square on Friday the 23rd at 2pm. And, for those able and so inclined, we will march from Bridge Square, south down Division Street, then west along 5th Street to Highway 3, north along Highway 3 to Ames Mill, then east to Water Street and over the bridge back to Bridge Square. Temperatures will be brutally cold. It's January in Minnesota. Be safe and dress for the conditions! As ever, our safety marshals will be present.
Bring your warm clothes, your signs against this unlawful and un-American occupation of Minnesota, and let's tell ICE to get out and state out of Northfield, and all of Minnesota. ICE out of MN. ICE out for GOOD.
