Open Veins of Latin America Reading Group

Community Liberation Programs

Join us to collectively study and discuss Open Veins of Latin America by Eduardo Galeano! This reading group is for people in all stages of their political education journey. With Cuba subjected to island-wide blackout, Venezuela’s president Maduro kidnapped and imprisoned by the u.s., it is more necessary than ever to understand the historical and ongoing systems that maneuver the exploitation of Latin America. Open Veins of Latin America analyzes five centuries of colonialism and political dominance over the region. Our reading group will discuss how this connects to the events of today. We will be providing resources such as free PDFs and a communal learning experience. Please sign up in our linktree! Dates & Times: 4/5 - 5/10 Sundays 3-5PM PST Location: Nomadic Bookshop 326 23rd St., Oakland, CA ⚡️HYBRID OPTION WILL BE AVAILABLE⚡️ This reading group is an optional sliding scale donation of $5 to $20+ (NOTAFLOF) to our Venmo (@communityliberationprograms) or CashApp ($Comlibprograms). All donations will be split with Nomadic Bookshop and CLP in support of our collective work in providing spaces for political education and programming.
