Olney Stands Up for Democracy
We stand with our neighbors for democracy, for justice, and for an economy that works for all of us, not just billionaires. We stand for science, the rule of law, a working government, kindness and common decency.
We stand on the streets so people who are fearful know they are not alone. We protest to remind ourselves that this is not normal. This is not what generations of Americans have fought and died for; we stand in the streets to honor their legacy.
We oppose fascism, tyranny, the lawless cruelty of ICE, the epic corruption, the reckless attacks on science, the idiotic tariffs, and we call out the spineless elected officials who are bending their knees to a clown who thinks only of himself.
Our protests give courage to everyone else who takes a stand. We won't back down to a clown. And when that clown goes down, we will mourn all that we have lost, and then we will rebuild on a firmer foundation. Together.
Come for your own reasons, bring your own signs or borrow one. Bring your own light or borrow one. Bring your own sounds, or dance to the protest playlist we have.
It's going to be dark and cold at 5:00, so dress warmly and maybe bring a booklight to illuminate your protest sign. To keep us all safe, we will cancel if the temperatures are below freezing, or when it rains, sleets, or snows. This is a marathon.
A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
