West Seattle Indivisible invites you to join Whole Washington and other organizations advocating for universal healthcare in Washington state. There will be a canopy in front of the Capitol Building where you can meet and plan to visit legislators’ offices, make phone calls, and be part of a visible presence in support of the Washington Health Trust. The event runs from 8am-5pm, and a more detailed schedule will be available shortly so you can plan the best time to participate. Introduced in multiple legislative sessions and previously as ballot initiatives, the Washington Health Trust has been presented to the Universal Health Care Commission and remains the only universal healthcare bill currently active in the Washington State Legislature (e.g., SB 5233 / HB 1445). It has not yet advanced out of the healthcare committees in the WA House and Senate, so we would like to make sure our legislators understand the importance of acting quickly to fix our broken healthcare system.
