Friends of Sabeel North America

PCAP and FOSNA present: “Rising Global Solidarity Against Genocide: A Conversation with Huwaida Arraf” Moderated by FOSNA Executive Director Jonathan Kuttab. Register at fosna.org/globalsolidarity to join us on February 28 @ 9am PT / 12pm ET! Over the last two and a half years, we have all witnessed a genocide unfolding in Gaza. In the midst of this horror, it is important to recognize that the global solidarity movement with the Palestinian people has been growing beyond in leaps and bounds. From student protesters on American campuses to Italian dockworkers refusing to load goods bound to Israel, the calls for justice for the Palestinians are louder than ever. Major Christian denominations are condemning Israel apartheid system and millions of protesters all over the world have protested against Israel’s genocide in Gaza. There is today wide support for the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement. And American politicians are increasingly pressured to reject any funding they receive from pro-Israel lobby groups. Huwaida Arraf is a Palestinian-American civil/human rights attorney and social justice activist. She has been involved in legal, political, and grassroots initiatives for Palestinian rights for the last two decades, including co-founding the Nobel Peace Prize-nominated International Solidarity Movement (ISM), and leading the Free Gaza Movement which, beginning in 2008, organized sea voyages to Gaza to confront and challenge Israel’s illegal blockade on the two million Palestinians living there. Huwaida currently practices civil rights law in Detroit, where she resides with her husband Adam and two children, Diyaar and Mayaar. Huwaida was 2022 candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives for Michigan’s 10th Congressional District and is an elected member of the Michigan Democratic Party’s State Central Committee. We are so honored to have Huwaida join us. Register at fosna.org/globalsolidarity ASAP to secure your spot!
