LAND, COMMUNITY, RESISTANCE: From Congo to Chumash Territory Community Roots Garden, Friends of the Congo, hi ho’ stoqošlóq’ hi xus (Chumash Bear Circle), and MiniNature Reserve are offering a two-part gathering that will include two film screenings by award winning filmmaker Petna Ndaliko Katondolo. Centering land sovereignty and environmental movements led by communities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, we’ll exercise collective learning and unlearning of indoctrinated beliefs and colonial propaganda that use anti-Blackness and anti-Indigeneity to justify violence in Congo and in the so-called United States.
