Stand Up for Science and Sanity
Protest & Costume Party: Stand Up For Science & Sanity Rally/March
Join our eighth Rally, March, and Costume Party to protest indignantly yet JOYFULLY the outrageous assaults on our scientific research, healthcare, free speech, universities & our democracy.
SPEECHES: Scientists from UC Santa Cruz and UC Berkeley will address recent attacks on Public Health, and important countermoves so far - increasing our effectiveness in resisting, compensating, and eventually restoring what we need as a civilized society. An environmental activist will speak on experiences of immigrants in the past and now.
MUSIC: The Raging Grannies will sing & the Mitchell Park will play before & after.
Bring your signs & determination, your voices to singing, chant & socialize.
COSTUMES (OPTIONAL): Consider dressing as frogs, chickens, ducks (for the quacks), devils, or just wear a Pinocchio nose for the liars—use your humor and your creativity!
OPEN MIKE: after brief speeches, feel free to talk for a few minutes about which cuts/assaults seem most disastrous to you and/or share ideas about effective ways to turn the tide.
MARCH: after the rally some of us will march with protest signs and music along nearby streets (costumes encouraged, not required).
