Avelo Airlines is partnering with ICE to deport our friends, neighbors, and loved ones. Now that they’re flying out of Portland, we’re showing up to make sure Mainers know exactly who they’re doing business with. Avelo wants our community’s dollars—but they’re financially benefitting from a contract with an agency that is tearing apart our communities. The Stop Avelo national campaign is leading protests on the last weekend of each month. Thus, even though we just gathered on the 12th (this was a raindate for the rally scheduled for the 28th) we’re gathering again! If Avelo chooses to keep working with ICE, they should know this: we won’t stay silent. We won’t back down. And we’ll keep raising our voices until this partnership ends for good. A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
