PALESTINIAN PRISONER DAY LETTER WRITING TO FREE TAREQ ZAKARNEH

PDX for Palestine

‼️ APRIL 17TH IS PALESTINIAN PRISONER DAY ‼️ Join us this Friday for a letter writing event to free Tareq Zakarneh, a Palestinian Portlander who has been in ICE detention for nearly 2 years! We will be writing letters to political targets including elected officials to demand he be releases from this unjust and inhuman detention! ⏰ WHEN: This Friday, April 17th from 6pm - 8pm 📍WHERE: Brooklyn Carreta Food Carts 4534 SE McLoughlin Blvd, Portland, OR *look for the Palestine flag!🇵🇸* 4/13/2026 UPDATE ON TAREQ (from slides) : After spending 3 months in Arizona, at both the Arizona Removal Operations Coordination Center (AROCC) and the Eloy Detention Center, Tareq has been transferred back to the Northwest Detention Center (NWDC) in Tacoma, WA. Much of Tareq’s time in Arizona was spent in medical isolation after contracting tuberculosis. Tareq was told that he was responsible for finding and coordinating his own medical care for an illness he contracted while in ICE detention. During the medical isolation period, Tareq was denied the right to visit with legal counsel on 6 occasions. Tareq being back in the PNW is great news but he is still being held unjustly in ICE detention, having committed no crime and being charged with nothing. As the execution of Palestinian Prisoners has become law in the settler colonial state of Israel, we will continue to call for Tareq’s and all detained Palestinian immigrants’ immediate release from ICE detention! FREE TAREQ ZAKARNEH & FREE PALESTINE! 🇵🇸✊🏼
