As allies of the Palestinian cause, we firmly believe that Palestine is an intersectional issue. Challenging the ideas of Western ‘feminism’ that excludes women of the Global South from its advocacy is a necessary step towards our collective liberation. Settler-colonialism, the foundation of Zionism, is inherently partriarchal - yet the Zionist oppressors present themselves as protectors of women’s rights in the region while stealing their land, killing their children, poisoning their crops and imprisoning their fathers and husbands without trial. Feminism that doesn’t challenge and reject white supremacy can only lead to the empowerment of privileged women at the expense of others.
