❗📢❗📢❗Laal is excited to announce the screening of our documentary “Joyeeta” at 📍 APICHA Jackson Heights 📆 Friday, Feb 6th! ⏰ 6:00 pm This is a free screening open to everyone, highlighting stories of struggle, success, and resilience among immigrant Bengali women in NYC. The film explores how community and culturally rooted mental health support can uplift and heal. Inspired by Laal’s 2020 Mental Health Initiative, Joyeeta follows Bangladeshi immigrant women in the Bronx during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the stories of Samsun Chowdury, Rumana Sayeed, and Nasima Alam, it examines immigration, language barriers, isolation, gender roles, and poverty, emphasizing self-agency and the need for culturally responsive mental health care.
