May Day 2026 - Redwood City - San Mateo Labor Council and Community Partners
San Mateo Labor Council
Join the San Mateo Labor Council, SMC AAPI Alliance, Indivisible Redwood City, Indivisible Portola Valley, CA Working Families Party and more this May Day—International Workers’ Day—for a powerful gathering in Redwood City on Friday, May 1st at 5pm at the corner of Jefferson Avenue and El Camino Real. Rooted in over a century of struggle and solidarity, May Day honors the ongoing fight for dignity, fair wages, safe workplaces, and a voice on the job. Today, as economic inequality deepens and corporate power grows, working families—especially immigrant communities—continue to face exploitation, instability, and attacks on their rights and livelihoods.
This May Day, we come together to stand up for our communities. The fight for labor rights is inseparable from the fight for immigrant justice, economic security, and a thriving democracy. When people are divided or targeted, it weakens all of us—but when we organize together, we build real power to demand change.
This event is part of a broader day of action across the country, with unions, community members, and allies uniting through rallies, marches, and collective action—including calls for “No Work, No School, No Shopping.” Together, we will show the strength of solidarity, uplift our shared demands for fairness and accountability, and celebrate the power of collective action. Grounded in a commitment to nonviolence, we invite everyone to join us in building a more just and inclusive future for all.
