Wednesday, January 7th, an American citizen was killed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This killing is part of a broader pattern of unchecked violence, impunity, and abuse carried out by federal immigration enforcement agencies against members of our communities. We oppose ICE's actions on principle, but for the residents of Roxbury, NJ and the surrounding towns it is so much more than that. The Washington Post reported that DHS wants to build 16 detention centers across the country, each to hold 1500 or more people. They will create these by converting local warehouses. And Roxbury is one of these towns. We need your support to show everyone that Roxbury is not going to warehouse humans or be a staging base for ICE to come and detain immigrants in our communities. We are a coalition of activists, Human rights groups, immigrant aid groups, religious groups, civil rights groups and local Roxbury residents who all believe in one thing: stopping ICE from building a Detention Facility in Roxbury.
